One theory is that curly horses ended up roaming the Mustang is that the Russian Bashkir Curly horses come with Russian colonists during the 1700's, but studies have consultations with Russian scientists, the Moscow Zoo and the Soviet Ministry of Agriculture has determined that the horse does not have curly hair from the Bashkir region and no evidence of genes originating from the Russian Bashkir horses. Another theory is that the ancestors of Curly horses crossed the land bridge during the last ice age, but there is no fossil evidence to support that the reintroduction of horses to this hemisphere by the Spanish.
